Beach Taxes
Myrtle Beach, SC Taxes
In today's economy, with gas prices and unemployment statistics on the rise, do YOU want your city taxes raised?

On June 17, 2008, The City of Myrtle Beach approved a motion to raise your taxes to eliminate tourists from our area. They have raised taxes 3 mills, or about $1 million dollars, to eliminate 500,000 of the 13 million visitors that have visited Myrtle Beach every year since 1940.*

*Early estimates forecast the economic impact for the 500,000 bikers who attended the 2008 rallies to be
$100 MILLION DOLLARS.

While discussing the Myrtle Beach bike rallies on June 17th, 2008 Council Member Chuck Martino Jr. stated:

"We're going to have to displace them with the tourists we want, then when the bikers want to come, the hotel rooms are already full." "But if we don't replace them, I don't think three mills is going to make up for the lost revenue."

Do you want your taxes raised to eliminate tourists? Do you want Chuck Martino Jr. deciding who comes to Myrtle Beach? Do you think it is PROPER City Policy to discriminate one tourist against another?

If you don't want Chuck Martino and other City Council Members deciding who can visit Myrtle Beach and raising taxes to LOSE money, we IMPLORE you to get involved and let your opinion be heard.

Here's How:
Get involved by attending meetings, writing and calling your local council representatives and work to get others involved.
